On Sunday President Bronislaw Komorowski met with board of Polish-Chinese shipping company Chipolbrok, a first ever Sino-foreign joint-venture established in the 1950’s, - and presidents of major companies from the Shanghai region.

He told Polish journalists that the main objective of his visit is “facilitating economic cooperation between Poland and China, but also between individual Chinese and Polish companies.”

Monday morning Bronislaw Komorowski met with professors and graduates of China-Europe International Bussines School. He then attended investment forum in Shanghai organised by the Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency (PAIiIZ) and the China Council for Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT). Mr. Komorowski encouraged Chinese investors to move their business to Poland.

“As the EU is the first partner for China, so Poland is the sixth biggest economy among the 27 EU countries,” President said enumerating seven reasons why Poland is an attractive market.

He stressed that Poland is a huge market, economically and politically stable, attractive in terms of foreign investments. He added that Poland has been enjoying growth for some 20 years, as opposed to other EU countries. He also pointed to strong financial and banking sectors and active self-governments which have been laying basis for Chinese investments in Poland. He presented Poles as an energetic and hard-working nation and concluded his speech encouraging Chinese businessmen to invest in Polish bonds.

Business agreements to be signed during President’s visit include: KGHM with China Minmetals, Lot with ChinaAir, Huta Stalowa Wola with Liu Gong. It is said that an agreement to open Institute of Polish Culture in Pekin will be signed; it would be first such institute in Asia.

Polish President is to meet Chinese authorities in Beijing: President Hu Jintao on Tuesday, Chairman of Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (Chinese parliament) Wu Bangguo and Prime Minister Wen Jiabao on Wednesday.

The visit of Bronislaw Komorowski to China is the first visit of a Polish president in 14 years.
